Access Table Mountain from the west side via Texas Creek Gulch. Take Hwy 50 to Texas Creek. Turn north on Fremont 27, Texas Gulch road. At the parking lot, a four-wheel drive road goes east up the drainage, leading to an old quarry at 1.5 miles. • It provides visitors solitude because of the lack of access.
  • The area gives wildlife connections to McIntyre Hills and Waugh Mountain SWA and South Park.

Natural Features

  • Table Mountain terrain ranges from 6,000 ft. to 9,400 ft. The dramatic high plateau that forms the north side of the area drops through canyons to the Arkansas River on the south side. Devil’s Hole/Echo Canyon carves a lower elevation area out of the south central portion.
  • Wildlife in Table Mountain includes bighorn sheep and mountain lion. It is also a bald eagle winter range.
  • Vegetation includes semi-desert shrubland, Ponderosa pine, Douglas fir, and grasslands and a riparian corridor along the Arkansas River and East Gulch.
